Royal Purple XPR 0w-10 a.k.a. Royal Purple #9

Sample Date 07/01/07

Blackstone:
Mark Nothing too unusual was found in this virgin sample of 0W/10. The trace wear metals are
likely from the tanker in which the oil was transported and aren't a problem. No moisture or insolubles
were found and the TBN was very strong at 12.2, showing plenty of active additive present. We
consider a reading of 1.0 to be low. Calcium was the dominant additive and is a detergent/dispersant.
Molybdenum, phosphorus, and zinc are all anti-wear additives. No problems were found in this
sample. We think this oil should work well for your engine(s).

I thought this oil was supposed to be purple? Didn't look very purple to me. The aroma was kinda of grapey.

Pavlov's dogs?

I've still got two changes worth of PP 0w-20. Might send that one in also.

Decent additive package IMO. I'm considering 0W20 for our Outback 2.5 but 0W10 I'm not so sure.

I'm thinking the same thing. Blackstone stated that I should be able to run this oil on the street with no problems. My fear is'nt so much that it's 0w-10 but that it's Royal Purple. I'll have to check out some Royal Purple UOAs.

In the mean time I'll be putting in Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20 come fall.
