My sister gave me a pressure washer yesterday . It had belonged to my brother in law . I changed the nasty engine oil and drained and refilled the pump oil . The sticker on the pump said that 30wt Non Detergent oil was an acceptable substitute for actual pump oil . I found some at Walmart for $4 qt versus $15 for the real stuff . It's not going to get a lot of use so I'm hoping it will last me a while . Anybody else use 30 wt oil in their pump ?

I've been using Supertech non-detergent SAE30 for as long as I can remember. I just rebuilt my 35+ year old pump about a year or so ago. Don't waste your money on "the real stuff" would be my recommendation.

They supposedly use a synthetic oil from the factory, take that as you will.

My view on it was this. If off the shelf SAE30ND was good enough the for the rotary vane air compressor on a 150HP steam boiler at my work. Then it will be just fine in a 5HP pressure washer.
