So I replace the P215 70R 14s on my Ford Ranger with P195 70R 14s. Now I think my speedometer is off a little. Am I crazy?

You've changed the overall diameter, so not only your speedometer but also your odometer will be off.

Your new tires also have a lower load rating, which is a much bigger problem than your speedo/odo inaccuracy.

What size tires did this truck come with from the factory?

Yup, its off. By my calculations ~10% faster reading
What was it on, a ranger?

Of course it's off. The speedometer doesn't work by GPS. It measures how fast your trans is turning, it assumes that you have a stock rear end, it assumes that you have stock tires, and then it displays a speed. Just mathematics.

On newer Fords (nothing that was made in the era of 14" wheels), the PCM can be reprogrammed to compensate for different gears and certain tire changes.

A 1995 Ranger base took 195/70/14s. What's your door sticker read?

A lot of people put oversize tires on pickups. Plenty of room without rubbing. So then the base tire looks out of place.

Roll with a GPS, or find one of those naggy radar speed limit signs.

What's the OE size? What's the exact year of Ranger?

We need more info before we can start the litany of "it's unsafe" claims.
