Is there an oversize filter that I can use on this 1998 Toyota Rav? These filter sit above with the open end of the filter pointed down towards the ground (if that makes a difference). The regular size filters are:
Purolator Classic L14476
Driveworks DW-4476
Mann Hummel ML 1009
Purolator PureONE PL14476

I wanted to try a Driveworks filter and I thought the Purolator might cross reference however I'm not having much luck finding an oversize alternative to the DW-4476.

The DW alternatives include:
241
4476
4459
4612
4670
111
195

4011

Not sure what an oversized filter is getting you. There are several "long drain" rated filters, made by Bosch and Mobil; they are rated from 10-15K miles. Would you consider one of those?

Frankly, I have a stash (8) of DW filters for my friends Protege; he stopped using them since the ADBV wouldn't hold the oil, resulting in clacking when he started the engine cold. If you have a hole down filter you may have the same issue; suggest trying a DW on your vehicle b4 putting much effort into finding an oversize one.

P14477 are 3.23 @ WW.

Pennies more will get you a Puro Classic over the Driveworks.

I've seen many complaints regarding the ADBV on the Driveworks, just like above. A name brand competitor also tested the DW and stated the media was of poor, questionable quality and only 80% efficient at 20 microns. You can do much better for less than a dollar more.

The drain-down issue was not something I had considered in this vehicle. I appreciate the concern and will stick with the Purolator filters for now. My Saab runs a L20195. Can I use that same filter on the Rav without an issue? Then I would only need to stock one filter size. Or 51516?
