for me, it totally depends on the application. Valve covers, complicated surfaces, some oil pans, I like fel-pro if I'm serious about staying clean and top-notch. Rear end, I don't care and usually button it up with RTV. T-stat housings, depends on what the surfaces look like. Main seal, oem or fel-pro. My brand pickiness really depends on the individual application. I try to use what works and don't spend where it's not needed.
