Other than ineffectively sitting around and griping on a discussion forum, what have you done to make a change? Discussed legislation with your local representatives? Run for local office? Organized a petition or your own protest against the policies you're upset about?

Or are you one of the masses that constantly whine and complain but do nothing to make a change?

And yes, this STILL happens even when the corporate tax rates AND regulations are almost non-existent here, due to EXCESSIVE greed on the companies'/shareholders' parts, so don't blame the 'd***ed librals' for this.

---------------------------

Apple has over $200 billion in overseas banks to avoid corporate taxes here in the USA. I don't see any bozo fools protesting in front of the Apple Headquarters. Maybe they are too busy on their iPhone ?

What those people don't realize is that there's nothing wrong with government as long as the government follows the Constitution. Right now our government is NOT following the Constitution and a lot of politicians should be locked up for high treason and corruption.

I have been told that many of these protesters are actually bussed in. So they are "professional" anarchists I guess.

It's always amusing how they are so brave when they destroy property that they wear a scarf across the face so they won't be recognized.

You've been told. By whom?

They have jobs. They are not stupid. Their intellectual capacity and discernment is why they can tell they're exploited. And they're rightly angry at having less opportunity than those who are making the rules. Do I agree with breaking windows and burning cars? No. Do they have some form of protest or activism which works better? Maybe, maybe not.

I don't live in Seattle so I have no voting ability to change anything in the city. Those that DO live in the city that are NOT left of center CAN NOT effect the changes needed because the majority of the people in Seattle keep voting the same lefties into government positions. There is ZERO diversity of political thought even allowed in Seattle, much less voted into any office with any influence. It's the policies of these people that continues the problem regardless of people that DO try to do something about it ....and they are far more powerful than I.

It is funny how you know nothing about Seattle politics and the problems....or understand where I live....yet want to condemn me for inaction. What I HAVE done and CONTINUE to do is express my First Amendment rights. Other than that, I am moving even further away from the scourge of Seattle and it's effects upon surrounding communities.

Those formally involved with organized protest movements up and down the west coast.

Oh wait...you live in Portland, eh? Hmmmm.

Do you mean "Those involved with organized protests..."

And you live in one of the highest cost of living areas near Seattle. Hmmm.

Nice argument isn't it? Guily by association. F-ing McCarthyist.

Less opportunity? What a load of garbage. I dropped out of high school. I laid around like a bum for a couple of years until a lightbulb went off in my head and I realized that I'd better bust my behind and get involved in a career. I MADE an opportunity for myself and was fortunate enough to get a job started (as well as my own business for a time). I now have 25 years with a company. That same company still hires people....as well as thousands of other businesses in this state. It's pure hogwash to protest about that...and criminal to vandalize others property. Only SCUM do that.

Well my friend...then if I was a business owner in Portland, and saw you coming to break my windows....would I use my baseball bat on your diminutive skull?

Maybe....maybe not.

Ha ha ha ha....that's a first! I've never been called a McCarthyist. Ha ha ha ha.

Go get a job man...maybe then you can pay back your parents for letting you crash in the basement.

Take a bath while your at it.

Unemployment is at an all-time low in Oregon. Guess what? Loads of people in Portland work 40+ hours a week in order to afford an apartment that they share with another working adult. Why? Minimum wage has not kept up with inflation. That's diminished opportunity.

You've been with a company 25 years? Great. You're in a small and shrinking minority. Again, diminished opportunity.

You didn't MAKE an opportunity. You exist within a society and took advantage of the opportunities around you and out competed someone.

You haven't shown one bit of understanding about WHY people are protesting.

You have shown a lack of reading comprehension. I am not the person you'll find breaking your windows.

There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say, but you can learn
How to play the game
It's easy.
Nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do, but you can learn
How to be you in time
It's easy.

Yep. Some sophisticated thinker you are. You don't know me. You don't know the people around you. You have a very narrow view of how things work, but think you know so much.

"It ain't what you don’t know that gets you into trouble.

It's what you know for sure that just ain’t so."

Mark Twain

andrewg,

What line of mine are you going to quote in my signature today?

You apparently don't understand anarchy, advocacy, McCarthyism, satanism, Buddhism, economics or sociology. What do you believe you understand? What are your core beliefs beyond the obvious one that hard work leads to success? What do you want other than a stable job an a world view unperturbed by those who dare to raise their voices?

Your dramatics and misplaced quotations really don't make you look any more intelligent than you are. You've shown hypocrisy by labeling me a...hahaha "McCarthyist", yet accuse me of not knowing you and attaching labels. Funny.

You're just another laughable leftist/socialist who actually believes in concepts proven long ago to not work.

Go crawl back under your rock.

Silence is what you want from the Left. Sorry. Not happening. You can either put up an argument or not, but we're not going away.

You chose to attack me by association. That's ol Joe's go-to move. So, yes, you earned your McCarthyism badge.

Have you ever asked yourself why the United States fought so hard against Communism and Socialism? Why fight so hard against something that doesn't work? Why would big 'S' Socialism be so scary that the United States sponsored coup after coup in Latin America to topple democratically elected leaders?

You can insult me all you like, but guess what? You live in my neck of the woods. You live in Cascadia. I think you'd be more at home South of the Mason-Dixon line in a "right to work" state.

Go read your Communist Manifesto and plan your holiday in Cuba....maybe with Bernie.

I don't even bother trying to have a meaningful discussion with somebody that makes excuses for vandalism and living the life of a bum....off of my taxes, no doubt.

Yeah buddy....the U.S. fought communists in Korea, Vietnam, and stopped them invading western Europe because we were afraid it would be the utopia Cuba is, right?
