In Ohio, it's called "the Speedway effect". They are probably the most common fuel/convenience stores around (I pass 3 on a 2.5 mile stretch of the same road to/from work) and they are always the first to raise prices for no logical reason. When they do, it's a trickle or rolling effect of all nearby stations typically following their lead and matching the price. There's a Murphy station in the middle of that stretch that normally holds out for a day before Speedway drops their price or Murphy eventually raises theirs to 3¢ lower than Speedway.Speedway also seems to be the highest prices consistently
