Location services question on IPhone

When texting someone, sometimes under the read receipt a message will pop up "sent from Joliet" or "sent from Chicago," basically it's the other texters location. Does this work if the Location Services is on, if so, how do I leave my IPhone tracker on while the person I'm texting DOESNT get the read receipt with my location.


This also goes for Facebook, to my understanding, sometimes on a mobile device while writing a status, it will say "sent from Chicago" under the status. I know you can do this manually, but I think it happens automatically sometimes. How do I make sure no one can see where I have been?

In the settings section, you can turn location services on and off for individual apps. For example, you can let MotionX GPS Drive use your location, but not Facebook.

I played around with that, except I didn't see iMessages under that page

Ive never seen that on my imessages. It does in Facebook.

The stock iMessage app doesn't have the city location listed, I think this is your Facebook app.... I don't use Facebook but I know iMessage doesn't send your location. Turn off location services for Facebook.

Disable your Read Receipts. Annoying and not necessary.
