MC is bad. Been there a few times over the years in various vehicles with erratic pedal pressure in both single and dual MC's. Pedal to the floor is internal leak in MC if there is no fluid loss in the system.

I had a 75 Vette with the same symptoms. 4 wheel disc would stop on a dime and out of nowhere pedal to the floor.
Replaced every component imaginable. Turned out to be a mildly worn wheel bearing that would cause the rotor to unnoticeably
vibrate at high speeds which in turn would introduce air into the system. New bearings brakes fine.
