I just tonight noticed this function - quite fun. Am I really this out of things or did Google not promote this new feature?

I kind of stumbled upon it too. I had never heard of it before I used it, nor have I heard it promoted or advertised since.

It's a neat tool and has been out for 6-8 months now. It's based on the same speech recognition technology as voice-mail transcribing in Google Voice.

And it works only if you're using Chrome - not possible on other browsers

Um, browsers (Like FF) that can make a bookmark toolbar item open in a NEW tab with ONE click, for example

(which g-chrome still cannot do)

btw, I read that this voice search WILL be made available for other browsers, soon ... neat.
