Fram Ultra XG3600 cut open

This filter came off a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta with a 1.4l turbocharged and direct injected engine. 110k miles on the engine, 10k miles on this filter.

It was made on Nov 12 2014, so quite old, but no problem there.

The only blemish is some rust on the baseplate, but I'm pretty sure that it happened after it was taken off of the engine and it hung around outside for months until it got on the chopping block.

Oil used was Quaker State Euro 5W-40, and I put in another XG3600 and some more QS Euro 5W-40.

Media looks barely loaded, just like the FS3600 I pulled in the HPL EC30 run in early January.

Yes. I bought 10 of them on eBay quite a few years back at a good price, all of them made in 2014. I have 3 left. Wonder if I should use them or put them on display. Lol.

i would just be worried about rust issues with filters that old. if theyre fine, run them!

No rust, they still look pristine.

I have a bunch from 2016 and have no issue using them.
