This filter was in service for about 3,000 miles on a 2018 Rogue, it was running Kirkland signature series full synthetic 0w20
The same oil went back in. Champion XL oil filter was installed. I am looking forward to cutting open the champ filter.. If I have an oil filter cutter That will do so, if not I may have to use a Dremel.

I had a 2014 Rogue select with the QR25DE. I ran the same but a bit longer filter spec'd for the Titan V8 in the truck or the Armada.
Still I fought with timing chain noise at startup and other running issues.
Lots of issues with Nissan service filters back then, first problems with the made in China units them some problems with the Made in Mexico Grupo Gonher units. I recall a trusted member posting photos of an inverted ADBV.
So, I went aftermarket also - or Honda " Blue Frams".

These cans are too small for effective below freezing use, but looks good.

Pleat spacing stinks but it didn't tear, the caps didn't separate off, nor were the pleats smashed enough to where oil couldn't filter through them. I'd still use them given the decent value they are. But I'd still spend a bit more on an ultra and use it longer since it has more media.

Thanks for the cp...
To me only I guess, in this world of misfits that looks like crap...
I just don't see any value in these looking like this.
Not pleasing to this eye even if it was a$1.
Agreed, I don't believe this is how a filter is supposed to be manufactured. Of course the warranty prob. wont exchange it just for having to look at its poor spacing of the media.

She's had no issues with it, it's a friend's vehicle, I usually do the oil changes on it, I don't think I will be running Fram filters anymore on it, the Napa filter had better spacing than this.

I ran a $14- Honda PCX004 across winter. Pretty "looking" expensive dealer filter made by Filtech for Honda's S2000 sports car hi-po engine.

Nissan Engine ran great on it - no noise. I did a dissection of it after winter. Two pleats were torn open from near the baseplate.

Prettiness doesn't always equate to proper functionality - but I would prefer to have BOTH.

Exactly, countless posts (edit - Mod) moaning about a filter like it's Miss america beauty contest. If there's no tear its done its job. Few % of people actually cut these open.

But the "appearance" dysfunction CAN show the defect that, potentially, causes a tearing event & so when it looks like crappy spacing it puts the filter at more risk of tearing. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a filter to actually look like it was made properly & not just except crappy manufacturing as a standard. I don't think these filters are supposed to look like this & is not exactly getting what we're paying for. If no one complained then there are many things that wouldn't change. I understand hearing the moaning can be a bit annoying at times. I think it can be for the greater good over time though.

I'd be moaning about that one since he said two pleats were torn.

LMAO, that's why I think, I'm going to look into Microguard select oil filter or Premium Guard EL.
I like the looks of those, but don't like the price for a 99% at 25 um filter.

If your willing to accept an e-core - Champ XL is 99% at 30um for under $4 bucks at RA - but has a Nitril ADBV

Same filter but with Silicon ADBV is the Walmart MP series for $6.

Interesting. I have 2 of Champ PH2867XL I just got which are e-core, there the xx7317 equivalents size.
