Last year I replaced my tensioner with a Motorcraft tensioner, and I also replace my stretch belt and serpentine belt, 15 months later, my tensioner went bad, ordered a new one from RockAuto Motorcraft as well, because Ford parts Giant would not stand behind Ford's 2-year warranty, because they are not a Ford dealer, but anyways, the part was supposed to be here July 3rd, I tore the car apart, part never arrived, FedEx then said it was going to be here today, here it is 8:00 it's still not here.. I need to get my car on the road.. so I want to get a ride to Advance Auto tomorrow, to get a liten belt tensioner. I understand they are made over in Canada, and also manufacture OEM belt tensioners. What is your opinion on them? I figure they have to probably be better than AutoZone's duralast..

Litens is probably Motorcraft one, at least it was on my 1995 Escort.
It actually is they manufacture for most, OEM's from what I understand according to their website.. FedEx is supposed to be here early this morning. We shall see.. all I know is that I want to get this car back together.. LOL
It's the OE for my 1999 Alero as well. Use with confidence.
Exactly what was the failure mode of the Motorcraft tensioner that only lasted 15 months?

Pictures it looks normal, every time the AC was on, the tensioner, had excessive play in it, (wobble) then as soon as you hit the gas gently, it would hit the limiters on the tensioner, and then the belt would start slipping..
So the spring had issues and there is nothing to see. Good catch though!
I heard it, when I had a guy I know evacuating my air conditioning and recharging it... Otherwise I probably wouldn't have caught it till it got worse. And I'm leaving for South Carolina 2 weeks.. probably wouldn't have been good..
