Hi,

Im running firefox 1.5.0.4 on Windows XP pro with all the service packs.

Ive had firefox open all day, with one tad for yahoo news, one tab for my webmail (gmx) and one for BITOG.

As of right now, firefox is using 802,000k of memory!

My commit charge right now is 1505M with sirius streaming over an IE window (only using about 7000k), and a number of other things open. My system is slowing down bigtime.

Firefox is obviously sucking up the memory... It has ever done this before... what gives? other than restarting, how can I regain performance in a stiuation like this???

Thanks!

JMH

I have seen this before, especially with streaming media with XM online all day. FF caches the last 10 (I think) pages in RAM. I'm wondering if it's trying to cache the streaming?? I use IE for 3 things, streaming XM is one of them. Ironically, streaming MLB games doesn't seem to have the same memory-hogging issue.

FF Version 2.0 is starting to ramp-up it's testing phase. One of the issues that the dev team is eyeing up is the memory leaks.

I actually used IE for the streaming...

I have to wonder if it was the yahoo news, I noticed that it self-updated news story ages from time to time...

Doesnt seem that a websitem even if refreshed 100 times, should eat up 800 mb!
