Evolution of Sauber F1 steering wheels from 1993 to present.

I love the old school '93 wheel.. Reminds me more of the roots of motorsports.

No wonder the drivers crash. You try figuring out the buttons on that thing while going 150mph...

Looks more like a controller to a kids Xbox than a steering wheel.

Odd to revert from display at top to no display and then display again...

Some have the display above the wheel; it's still that way, personal preference of the designers I suppose.

I can't even stand audio controls on steering wheels... I wonder how I'd make out in an F1 car

I think a lot of it is driver preference. I remember hearing a story where Michael Schumacher wanted knobs and switches for everything as he could set the car up to his liking. When Lewis Hamilton switched to Mercedes he complained the steering wheel had too many controls on it.

I suppose you get used to them - it's all muscle memory.

Yup. And now at season's end he's wondering how Nico got more out of the car! I still love him though...
