I suppose the converse is also true. If the oil is too high on the dipstick, get a shorter dipstick.
Heck, have the set of three dipstick lengths ready for all eventualities.

Nowadays since many cars don't have a dipstick, either reconfigure the dash so oil isn't displayed. Or do it the old fashioned way and use electrical tape over the warning. A lot of time if a person is crafty, the same piece of tape covering the check engine light can be stretched to cover other warnings
 
One of my buddies has an adult daughter that has ruined two engines by trying to drive home with that red oil light on her dash.
