Looking to pick up a diagnostic tachometer for carb tuning. Specifically for working on a 3 cylinder motorcycle and a 4 cylinder Yamaha outboard, but potentially could need it for anything. Currently liking the Actron CP7605, and the price on amazon is pretty attractive, too. Is there a better option out there? Looks like the resolution for 3 and 4 cylinder jobs will be fairly low since your just doubling the 6 and 8 cylinder scales...

If you get a meter with an inductive pickup that clamps over a plug wire it should have the same accuracy no matter how many cylinders the engine has.

I got a tach from my Dad that is all mechanical. Just push its cone end against a turning shaft. Probably 50 years old now. Wonder if they even make things like this anymore.
