I have just removed Java from my computer and wife's laptop. When Oracle comes out with a 100% fix for Java I may reconsider using it. Until then, we will not use it at all for any reason. We have enough problems as it is without more computer garbage giving us grief.
Java has a patch for this problem now. If you update java, you should be OK. I've had numerous problems updating Java, so I usually manually uninstall it and install the latest version.
edit oops, I see someone already posted about the patch.
That sounds like the best relief..... Uninstall prior to installing the latest version.
Sure it's a PITA, in order to alleviate the issues, but when you have kids that have many games installed, Java is essential to run most of them.
I uninstalled Java all together and tell my firends and family to do so as well. So far I did not encounter a situation where I needed java, so it's not a big deal for me not to have it installed.
I went to that link and used the "do i have java" test, said i don't, so good thing?
I think that should be good - I did the same and got this
