I wish it would just stay cold. I love winter, I hate the freeze/thaw slushy mess. I wish it would just stay below freezing.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of "high" winds close schools there?
Gusts between 35-50MPH coupled with all the rain we've had lately. Likely trees will be down and we'll have power outages.
Same here. This brief dusting every couple of days is super annoying, especially when trying to keep cars somewhat clean.

17 plus inches of snow plow snow at the end of the driveway.

I cleared 95 percent of the driveway with 2 bars left on each of the batteries
I'll have to go out again later to clean up the driveway to my OCD standards.

Today breaking in a Champion 2500 gas generator, and a Diesel Heater is coming in tomorrow and making air duct adapters for a window and the garage from 2x12 wood and a metal flange.
It might be too much preparation, but my family wont experience the discomfort of long term electricity loss again.
I look at the GFS 7 and 10 day outlooks for the teleconnection patterns…. I saw this pattern developing in those outlooks about a week ago. Typically the 7 day outlook forecast is right 80-85 percent of the time. 10 day outlook forecast is about 60 percent accurate on average.
NAO turning negative and the PNA pattern turning positive leads to very cold weather in Canada and southeastward into the continental US.
NAO - North Atlantic Ossification
PNA - Pacific North America
NAO is very helpful in predicting the upper level jetstream pattern for the eastern US.
The PNA is typically used for the western US jetstream pattern forecast.
