Looks pretty good, but with that wide spread in viscosity and it being GIII, I would imagine it would shear a lot and fairly quickly. I don't think this oil would be a good candidate for extended intervals....right???

I made one error on the above topic. The SUS viscosity measurement is made at 210 F not at 212 F. 88.9 SUS= 17.72 cSt. This seems to be the latest version of Castrol Syntec 5W-50. The tech data sheet from Castrol lists the cSt viscosity at 100 C as 17.5.

My UOA on the 5w-50 had a SUS @ 95.7 which indicated no shearing at 5k miles. Was advised it was still in the 50 weight range. Had a TBN of 5 so it was not used up. Don't see why it wouldn't hold up for extended drains. I had run it up to 7K to 9k in the past with a filter change part way. No longer running it at this time.

Not that many UOA's on this oil to see if it shears in some engines.

Last_Z the lab that tested this oil was Lubriport Laboratories, Inc. from Kennah, LA. I also had a UOA of this oil from a motorcycle forum in a BMW F650 Motorcycle where the oil performed very well but unfortunately the report would not print in full and now the link seems to be dead.
