Cadillac Catera, burns oil, reccomendations?

if it is burning 1qt per 1000 miles and you want to save on the amount of oil purchased, just increase oil change interval to 7500 miles and keep adddng the fresh quart every 1000 miles as it burns it.....not like you are trying to preserve a pristine future collectible vehicle.
 
3 years later...

The timing belt was changed along with all the associated [censored] like the idlers tensioners and seals. Some of the seals were shot and the car had started leaving its "mark" wherever I parked.
Driving habits changed from a lot of highway to local driving and the consumption shot up to about 1qt per every 500 miles.
At this point I upped the oil weight to HDEO 15w40 used it for another year, and threw the for sale sign on it.
Good riddance!

Maybe try 20W50 Maxlife.
