It's been 11 years since our last new car... I did a lot of online research in this process before test driving, and found out that a 20 min test drive can tell you a lot more about how you're really going to feel about a vehicle.
Our '03 Park Ave has 175 k miles and is getting tired... I wanted something new this time to update our modest fleet. The price range my wife and I are comfortable with had me test driving well equipped mid size cars, compact SUVS, and a Chev Colorado Z71. Because we live in a small town and are on the highway all the time, low road noise and good seat comfort and driving position are top priorities. I test drove the Impala last, because I assumed it would have start/stop like most GM cars. I found out the 3.6 does not have start/stop (yay!) so I took one for a test drive. I was really impressed with the comfort, room, interior quality and features of the Impala. The 305 hp 3.6 and 6 speed trans are a very smooth and quiet drivetrain, and it really goes.. 0 - 60 in 6.2 sec according to Motor Trend.
I am ordering it with leather, Bose stereo, safety pkg, convenience pkg, etc. in Tri coat pearl, with "wheat" colour and black interior. It will arrive at the dealer in mid May.
With GM incentives and some haggling the price ended up about the same as the well equipped above mentioned vehicles I test drove. 0% financing makes this car a great deal for us.
Any 2014+ Impala owners out there?
