Which one is the "best?"

Is it Mobil 1?
Is it the Bosch pricier units?
Or, are they the Mann ones at the front of the store?

Thinking of a filter good for about 3k miles, "6k at the most" since my oil will be encountering some sludge in the new Volvo (2000 V70 XC with the T5.) Not sure how an OEM filter is better.

Just asking.. Thanks!

When you do a good job of defining what "best" means to you, and under what conditions, then you'll probably get a "better" answer.

A PureOne or M1 or EaO isn't "best" when the OCI is 3k miles, any more than a 15k mile OCI would be a good idea on an E-core.

For 3-6k miles, just about any decent brand name filter will do a good job. UOAs show that there is no statistically significant difference between normal and premium filters during such undemanding circumstances.

+++++++++1

If you use Dino and run it up to 6K or so miles then P1

If you use Synthetic, then the premium Bosch, Mobil 1 or K&N would work well.

If you are removing sludge, wouldn't an early filter change during the run be the way to go? Standard Purolator or Mann?
