The real negative to a spray on is in the hands of the installer. I sold to Line X corporate and they showed me how it all works. Like paint. the pitfalls are in adhesion (and never forget they sand most of your paint off) and the mixture. If they don't get the UV right, the spray on looks like sheet in years to come. If the prep isn't right, the material doesn't always adhere and pockets of rust can form underneath. I used to sell a LOT of drop in bedliners to the auction houses to cover up spray ins for vehicle resale. Like I said, all have their pros and cons. The Bedrug offers best cargo protection, the spray in and drop in offer the best bed protection.
