I've read about the engraving thing before. Personally I think it's a joke.

Gun laws do very little to inhibit crime. Crimes are rarely committed by law abiding citizens that go to the trouble of following gun laws.

Interestingly, my rifle club membership to our NRA to shoot at the range, is $112 p.a., inclusive of insurances, and $7m public liability. My membership of the Sporting Shooter's Association of Australia (recreational hunting) is $60, inclusive of $7M public liability.

If I joined the local hockey club, $250-300 is insurances.

Insurance companies work on statistics.
