My '86 Volvo245 in my sig. with 4 sp man./elec overdrive received Volvo dealer service 5K OCI for the first 23yrs of its life. Engine and tranny remain unopened. Odometer was broken for 7 yrs;I figure the car has around 400K; 325K shows.BTW, these Volvo "Redblocks" are known to last if not neglected.I use whatever 10w30 dino oil is on sale and Mann filters.

Manual is way to go,if you can. Elbow tendonitis forces me to drive automatics, now. Hate it.

My father had a b13 sentra with an SR16VE N1, 200hp N/A in a 1.6 developed in 1993! It rolled over 300,000 miles with 20w50 conventional and the new owner is still driving it.

OK...so I've compiled the answers as accurately as I could. All I have to say is WOW. That's a lot of dinosaurs on the road...both in terms of the oil used and the longevity of your vehicles

I wonder if the underrepresentation of synthetics on this list is due to the % of people using dino vs. synthetics, the length of time synthetics have been on the market, or simply because of random chance?

That's a nice little chart! As for the reasons, it's probably a mix of of them. Now, there are more vehicles requiring synthetic, and vehicles with huge miles on them tend to not have required synthetic in the first place (except for certain European exceptions). Some plan on keeping their vehicles a long time (my fleet usage included, for sure) and don't see a need to spend double the money on synthetic when we know the engine is going to last just as long and don't want to extend OCIs dramatically because we want to get under the car every 6,000 miles or so.

@MrWideTires: Mine was the 600,000 Quaker state dino entry, and it used Wix filters (in the non-ADBV days) from day one, at 6,000 mile OCIs.

I've put over 200K miles on many engines but, this one particular '88 Honda Accord that we owned for 18 yrs (2.0L/2bbl Carb/Auto Tranny), we put on 340,000+ miles on just about any dino only "on sale" or "store brand" oil & filters doing between ~5K mile OCI's

Wait a minute....2006 should be a 3.3 liter motor right?

I'm hoping to hit 300k with my scion, but at only 8k, I have a ways to go:) havnt decided if i'm going to go with pyb or vwb/nextgen yet. Has nextgen in it now, but I want to see if it runs any quieter with pyb in it.

Used to drive a 1996 Sentra GXE that had above 250k miles and the odometer was finicky, so it probably had over 280k miles on it.

Got the car with 233k miles and typically used quaker state green bottle. no oil burning, but small oil leaks here and there.

Car ran great until the torque converter locking solenoid went out and my new job i realized i needed something without a high potential that things would break down when I'm in the middle of nowhere....

Not my car:

My buddy at work had 06 Sonata (4-cyl) with around 316K when it's engine gave up the ghost. He was a M1 with Hyundai OEM filter every 3K-5K. Engine failed fast and catastrophically.

I put over 300K miles [in 10 years] on a 88 Lincoln Town Car..I used mostly Motorcraft 5w30,10w30 and once in awhile Castrol 5w30..I used plain old Dino...Filters were Motorcraft.

Car was serviced every 3K miles mostly by the Ford dealer..That was before I knew better..The next owner kept it for at least 4 years that I knew about.

650,000 miles huh? I`m sorry but I dont believe it. Not with out some kind of overhaul.

1990 ford f250 2wd 7.3idi 346,000 miles. Daily driver. Only shows 5 digit mileage but i have documents for all the mileage.

Right now i use Valvoline Premium blue 15w40 and fl-1995 oil filter.

I call [censored] on this one! Nothing made back then will go to 650,000 without several new motors!

I had a 66 Chevy with the 250 straight 6 and the engine had to be replaced before 70K. However the previous owner didn't care for it very well. I put a Jasper short block in it and drove it another 25K before trading it in. 125K was about it for those engines of that day.

In 2004 when I was looking at NEW Camry's('02-'06 gen), the Camry Brouchure mentioned...2.4L 4cyl, 3.0L V6 & 3.3L V6 as all of the engines available. Even back then, I said...Hmmmm!

IDK if by '06 that the 3.0L V6 was finaly dropped!
