2012 VW jetta 2.5 winter weight?

Yeah, we had the 2.5 with the 5-speed. Sort of like a German Volvo white block. Fives have a unique growl. Not quite as refined as the Volvo 5 as you climb the tach, but a real sturdy, tons-of-fun, playful feel to it. We really liked it. Sure you will, too.

But Mrs. VH needed a diesel wagon, so we moved on to the JSW TDI. Other than the PITA 507.00, no regrets, as it can burn rubber if you're careless with it.

I don't think you need a 5w-40. We only needed a 30 in ours. But I would pick something that can put up with that timing chain.

FWIW, the nicest oil we ever ran in ours was Shaeffers Supreme 7000 10w-30. It didn't have official 502 approval, but 502 is easy to meet, and it ran as quiet as a church mouse on it with zero usage. Lovely oil.

You ran Supreme 7000 10w30? HTHS doesnt meet 502...pretty far off actually. How long did you run it?
