Nissan Rogue 1.5 VC-TURBO Engine Teardown

Probably the first tear down video of the Nissan VC engine. As a current owner of the exact engine, I'm fingers crossed and interested to see how it will go.

    2015 Mazda3 I Grand Touring

I have used an aftermarket dorman 17mm drain plug since I bought the car. It's same as older pre-2013s. Check rear brakes. They seem to wear out a lot faster than the front. Belt tensioner seeping fluid is common too. I sold mine at 150k. Ran like a clock

3-cylinder fuel economy in extreme cold

The air is denser, plus the winter fuel (more ethanol). In the past vehicles I've owned, I only noticed a small increase of 1~2 l/100km. This is also my first turbocharged vehicle. I wonder if it's because the turbo pumping in already dense air, thus requiring more fuel?

3-cylinder fuel economy in extreme cold

First winter with my 2023 Nissan Rogue with the 1.5 variable compression turbo engine. Noticed that there is a significant decrease in fuel economy below -20c (-4f). Driving on the highway with CC set at 60mph and I'm getting between 10-12 l/100km, which is around 20 mpg. This is getting close...

Help me choose: Nokian WRG4 vs Outpost APT

I'm assuming that's the WRG5? Would love to install that on my next car. The APT has been amazing so far, and that's only an AT tire.

Help me choose: Nokian WRG4 vs Outpost APT

Update: went with the outpost APT and very happy. Been through a few snowstorms and a big road trip across half of Canada. Good grip on snow/packed snow/slushy roads, average on ice. But of course you will need chains or studded winters for best ice performance.

Help me choose: Nokian WRG4 vs Outpost APT

I saw both of your summer and winter reviews and they really helped me a lot. I'm also impressed with what the little Kona can do. Now I'm pretty much set on the Nokian APT, just waiting for them to go on sale in October.

Help me choose: Nokian WRG4 vs Outpost APT

Can't decide between these two. The Outpost is an on-road biased AT tire which is perfect for my needs (travel a lot on dirt roads/small trails in summer, and aramid sidewall for those deadly pothole seasons). The WRG4 offers better winter performance especially on ice, but looks like it will...

Thoughts on the 2023 Nissan Rogue 1.5 variable compression engine?

Only the base model still offers the 2.5 but it has to be factory order.

Thoughts on the 2023 Nissan Rogue 1.5 variable compression engine?

I like the KISS formula too, I was originally looking at RAV4s and Corolla Cross. But the current wait time for the RAV4 is 8 months and CC is 1+ years (central Canada, non-hybrid models). Biggest reason I ended up with the Rogue? It was on the lot, readily available and no markups except for...

Don't like it don't drive it. Not a big deal.

Thoughts on the 2023 Nissan Rogue 1.5 variable compression engine?

Well, it's probably a bit late to ask, since we already deposited a 23 Rogue SV. But what's everyone thoughts about their new VC turbo engine? It makes a lot of power considering it's a 3-cylinder engine, yet very fuel efficient. The hydraulic engine mount noticeably did a great job isolating...

Need help identifying this seepage from Mazda Skyactiv engine

Only 60k km, in my experience kinda low for a Japanese engine to start having problems.

Need help identifying this seepage from Mazda Skyactiv engine

Vehicle is a 2016 Mazda 3 2.0L. This is beside waterpump but I couldn't tell(or smell) if this is oil or coolant. It has been going on for a while but has gotten a bit worse this year. Since we might sell the car this year so I decided to take care of it for the next person. I've already washed...

How is your Chevy EcoTec3 v6 still holding up?

The truck is from the dealership so no way of knowing the maintenance history, it's probably from the auction but the condition is absolutely mint inside out for the mileage. I'm hoping the carfax would have history. Here in central Canada used truck prices are off the roof due to the nasty...
