3.6 Pentastar Edge vs Helix Ultra

I’m at 170,000 kms on my 14 3.6 Pentastar Wrangler without any lifter / roller rocker issues. Very early in the engines life I went away from the Dexos spec oil and ran a high saps Valvoline Synpower 5w30 FE. Went from the Valvoline to Shell helix ultra a3/b4 SN for the full saps and it’s...

    5w30 Synpower FE - 2014 3.6 Wrangler 13,100kms

Wow, thanks for the reply SR5. Wealth of knowledge! I'll keep going with the FE synpower to keep life simple. I think I know why I have fuel dilution. These 2014+ JK's run extremely hot from the factory. I once saw a water temp of 119 Celsius in summer, so I used a HP tuner to change the...

    Who is using a synblend / semi-synthetic oil ?

My hilux did around 420,000kms on penrite semi-synthetic until I did a couple of runs with Pennzoil platinum I bought from GL lubricants. Started to leak like oil like a sieve a short time after going to the full synthetic and still does. Full synthetics certainly clean very well, and when I...

    LPG OCIs?

I've talked to penrite about this and LPG is actually quite hard on oil. The danger is from oil nitration which will corrode your big end bearings. Extended drains just because the oil looks clean is a very bad idea. http://www.penriteoil.com.au/products-categ.php?id_categ=1&id_fuel_type=7

I had my gearbox bearings replaced under warranty in my Toyota a few years back. The shifting was difficult from the day I got it back. After a few days I decided to crack the fill plug to make sure it was filled correctly, and to oil was jet black. I dumped the oil and re-filled with castrol...

    Honda 20i generator advice

It was bought back in 2002, and now has around 1500 hours on it. Ive always used Honda 10w-30 as recommended, but recently the 20i has seen around 40-50 hours a week, every second or third week. It gets really hot too, running in around 30 degree heat for up to 10 hours a day. I have some...

Nu Finish Cling after 3 months. PICTURES!

I had no idea Zaino made a wax, can anyone provide a link? I only know about their sealants which last up to 12 months provided the paint is prepared correctly. Thats what it comes down to for durability and appearence regardless of LSP.

    VW 2.0T K&N Air Filter @ 43k Miles

The filter media isn't red/purple, thats the colour of the filter oil. I can see white sections on your friends filter, so those spots are dry and there is a good chance dust went through the filter since there is no oil to catch the particles.

Thanks guys. Trex and vxcalais, what OCI are you using with the LPG powered vehicles?

    LPG specific oil

Does it really exsist? Penrite here in oz are one of the few to make a LPG specific oil. They claim it contains additives to combat acids formed by running on LPG. Its a semi-synthetic and its what im using now, but i want to use a full synthetic from now on since im over changing my oil so...

Will Redline protect better in my driving style?

Im using redline 10w-40 in my turbo volvo engine, but only because boost is now doubled to almost 18 psi on the standard turbo. My OCI is 15,000kms too, so in my case Redline is a very good idea. I think im one of the few everyday drivers who could actually 'need' to use Redline. However, I...

old oil from one engine into another?

So i have redline 10W-40 in my turbo which has a OCI of 15,000kms to comply with the manufacturers warranty. No doubt the oil will still have a high TBN when i dump it, so rather than throwing it out, i had this stupid idea of hygenically transferring it to my work truck which has over...
