Have fun changing the oil. I have an 09 and take it to the dealer(Pennzoil). Why they designed the skidplate/cartridge filter location is a mystery.

Why is it when someone says anything negative about Amsoil the dealers and their customers feel they need to come out and defend the product?

Police cars are tools, and are treated as such unfortunately. I wish my agency would quite using our shops and just take it to the local Ford dealer for oil changes. The newer Crown Vic's have an hour meter. I think we run 76 5w/20 in our cars.

I agree with ya on some of your Amsoil points although I use their motorcycle oil. Why not just have the dealer do your oil changes? Motorcraft filters and oil. They usually run a coupon that includes a tire rotation.

How did you get the sample via the dipstick? Did you use one of those oil pumps?

I have 2 dealers fairly close. One uses Pennzoil products the other Mobil. Was hoping to stay with a dino for awhile. Is that new filter a pain to get to/replace?

Just picked up an 09 double cab 4x4. Calls for 0w-20 or 5w-20. Anyone have a favorite for this motor?

A local chain (Joes) just started carrying it out here. They also have the synthetic for $4.49 a qt.

Dont be cheap. Use what the mfg recommends in each, at least until the warranty is up.

I had an 02 Explorer and had the same issue. Ford rebuilt the rear end (clutch packs). Started making the same noises again when I traded it in. Had the tranny worked on twice. Too bad, I liked driving that rig. Nice handling, adequate power.

So, what would prefer if the price is the same? Mobil 7500 Blend or Napa Syn????

Try a 5w/30? I had a 2000 F150 (v8) and if I remember right thats what the manual called for. Maxlife?

I work for a local city near you. I have seen a barrel of 76 blend in our fleet shop. Our cars are tools and are driven hard daily. Curious, I use a fast lube in Sherwood (Chevron) that uses Chevron Supreme. Is bulk Chevron not available around here anymore?

Wow, great results from a $2 a qt oil.
