    Great rental car experience.

How was Fairbanks? I've always wanted to check out Alaska. Hoping to make it there one day.

    Great rental car experience.

I'm glad things worked out for you but being stuck with a gas guzzling behemoth would not be my idea of a great outcome. that's about the opposite of anything I would rent to get around a city.

    My Sonata Failed Inspection

I agree. 300K miles on a Hyundai ia huge, 300kms - around 180K miles - is also huge. Even a thousand bucks seems like a lot to spend on such a car. And trust me, I'm an expert in 'sunk-cost fallacy', lol.

    Allstate Insurance

I definitely have sympathy for you but the reality is many factors decide your insurance rate, and unfortunately past history sometimes doesn't make a huge difference in your price. The world is just becoming a more expensive place - scares me sometimes, honestly.

Well believe what you like but your numbers don't change anything I wrote . Also, insurance companies have bad years, too. Major natural disasters - a not uncommon thing - often require gigantic payouts. Far be it from me to defend insurance companies, but saying that they just rake in money...

    My Sonata Failed Inspection

2 for us as well, both great vehicles. Since the dealer usually pics up the tab for regular maintenance for a leased vehicle you have a better chance of the vehicle being maintained properly, imo. People are much more likely to get *free* maintenance done than anything they have to pay for, IME.

    Allstate Insurance

^This is us as well. In fact, I believe it's how insurance should be used by everyone. People that constantly hit up their insurance for every little thing they can ie small chip in windshield, something taken from vehicle, etc, etc don't seem to realize this costs you more in the end with...

    Allstate Insurance

I've lately lot's of people complaining about their insurance going up a lot, it's definitely a thing right now and reflects the times, imo. Ourselves - my wife and I - have been with USAA for about 6 or 7 years after leaving our previous insurer (Country) which we loved, because we moved cross...

    Alligators

I would find out how much it cost to have a service remove it, OP. And pay it myself if it wasn't too crazy. I agree it will likely cause a lot of sad and scary problems with local wildlife and pets.

    2024 Nissan Versa rental review

We had a new one as a rental for a few days in 2022 or so and I was really amazed what a nice little car it was. Reminded me how far basic cars have come in that you could buy Nissan's cheapest econo car and it was comfortable, and drove/handled really nice. Compare that to some of the entry...

Need a interior cleaner that give the interior a wet look

I use Armor all. I know a lot of people turn their nose up to it but I've always used it and my 35 year old car's interior is pristine. The car is always covered when not driven so that is the main protector, but I think the Armor all leaves a nice shine. And it's cheap comparatively speaking...

    Facebook deals?

FB always says they have a hard time staying on top of the constant flow of scams so I'm thinking they just haven't found those ads yet but will remove them eventually. Of course not before a few a geniuses send in their $20 for something that supposedly is worth thousands and end up getting...

My experience 30 floors up during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake

I had been through a few earthquakes before the '89 shaker, mostly waking up at night to glasses and picture frames rattling. I was living in Southern CA at the time, but not LA. Anyway when the big one hit I was working in an upscale mall, doing a shift by myself in the boutique I worked in on...

    60 Minutes Nvidia AI segment

^This. History is FILLED with old jobs being lost and new jobs being created as new technology changes the way we live. Getting mad about it is like getting mad at the sky for being blue, it's an inevitable change as humans advance.

    60 Minutes Nvidia AI segment

Comparing a simple ie primitive phone answering system to the highly advanced abilities AI will provide is like comparing automobiles to horse drawn buggys. Sure the first (primitive steam powered) cars couldn't compete against horses, and I'm sure lot's people at the time espoused confidently...

    60 Minutes Nvidia AI segment

I agree completely. Imo it is going to be the biggest influence/change/life altering thing to come about in our times, maybe in all times. People that are comparing Siri to AI aren't understanding that Siri is just a very primitive early attempt. I believe AI will eventually be indistinguishable...

Test to see if foam mattress vacuum storage bags work

Yeah us, too. We've moved several times around the US and always used movers. Doing it yourself doesn't save much and is absolutely soul crushing.

Test to see if foam mattress vacuum storage bags work

Hmm. Does seem like it helps a bit. I guess I'd be weighing the result against the cost, it doesn't seem Earth shattering. :)
