Thanks guys!. Looks like Mobil 1 5W30.

Ford Focus is one of the hot hatchbacks, 2.0l turbocharged. What oil to use? I think the factory recommendaton is 5W20 like most of the other Ford stuff. I used Mobil 1 10W30 in the Crown Vic and it did O.K., 170K so far. Recommendations? I live in South Texas where temps are routinely north of 100.

You might also consider the Mobil 1 15w50 (car oil). I've been using it in my '01 for about 85,000 miles.

I checked some of the other local sources for Mobil 1 such as Autozone and O'Rilley. They all seem to have plenty . . . except that they are chargin' 26 bucks for 4 quarts and Walmart charges 26 bucks for 5. It's tough being cheap.

I tried several Walmarts in the area so it is not just incompetent staffing.

Why?

The only filter I have seen that was defective was an AC PF35L.

You might also want to consider the Chevron Delo 400. It is similar to the Rotella, usually available at Walmart and has the added benefit of a little moly. I have used both and prefer the Delo.

I would go with a PureOne Oil filter and Delo 400 if you want a dino oil or Mobil 1 15w50 if you want an almost synthetic.
