    Techron

Costco is the only place that sells Techron here. Actually, fuel filters are changed on cars quite more frequently than one might believe. The Mexican mechanics know this. What they don't know it that would be cheaper to use an additive than to go through the mechanical hassle.

    power steering fluid change

Just adding 2 cents of experience. In Mexico, especially in Mexico City, you need to be able to turn at high speeds due to bad turns and bad drivers. The consequences can be deadly even at low speeds. I noticed when I first came down here, that my steering in my Lexus could not handle the...

    Mobil 1 debate

I use Mobil 1 exclusively. Down here in Mexico, we have no Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple or other. Castrol and Quaker State also sell their synthetics. My thinking is with such a big car market, why aren't the above special synthetics sold here? There are certainly enough people willing to pay...

    Toyota Oil Sludge Prevention

I have a 99 Lexus RX300 AWD with 59K. If I am not mistaken your engine and mine are based on the same 3.0 frame. I have also received that letter you are referring to. I know the clown who owned the car before hardly took in for service. I used a product called Restore while down here in...

    Dino 5W-30...worthless?

Bror, I have a 99 Lexus RX300 AWD with about 59K on it. Normally calls for 5, but the 15 has been doing all right. I use Mobil 1 as we have no Red Line, Royal Purple, Amsoil whatsoever. Importing it would be awfully expensive given the Mexican taxes. Mobil won't even sell anything but the 15W-50.

    ATF Change

Since I have to take my Lexus to a Toyota dealer...no Lexus in Mexico....I can tell you have the tranny flushed. I have seen several ways people have flushed the trannys down here. 1. Full tranny flush with a machine...best way. 2. Tranny flush with the engine on. 3. Two fluids...

    Techron

Most of you do not have the LUXURY of living in Mexico. Where I live, Mexico City, foreigners cannot drive their cars one day out of the 5 working days due to pollution. Everyone with a Mexican plate can submit their car for emissions testings and get one of three types of stickers: Cero-drive...

    Dino 5W-30...worthless?

I live in Mexico City at almost 8,000 foot elevation. I had to move from a 5W-30 SYNTHETIC to a 15W-50 SYNTHETIC, just to avoid burning oil. I even went to several automotive stores yesterday, and also Walmart and Costco....no 5W-30 to be seen not even a 10W of any kind, just 15W and higher.
