UOA: 2011 Mazda2 OEM filter vs K&N SRI

Quote: So in conclusion to this thread I'll say if you want absolute best filtration absolutely I'd stick with an OEM Mazda filter. Properly installed the DDMWorks intake with K&N filter is perfectly adequate. Sums things up pretty well in experience too.

Oiled Cotton Air Filters, Good or Bad?

Over 25 years using K&N AF. Never ever have I experienced an oily or dusty intake tract. A couple of vehicles with well over 175,000 miles racked up. Very satisfied with K&N.

Should I switch back to paper from K&N?

Sorry to hear all the horror stories, I've never experienced an oily or dusty intake tract while using K&N, or any other issues. I've used them for over 25 satisfied years.

    Molybdenum, is there a downside?

I constantly read how this additive is the favorite of many bitog members. Is there any downside to this ingredient? Why don't all mfc use it?

May your Corolla extend many trouble free years. Great choice! I happen to agree with you on the amenities required. Why not another Hyundai, if I may ask?

    "Recommended viscosity etc" and warranties

How prevalent are warranty denials for using non recommended oils? For instance, there is a current thread going on, see below, where a Prius owner is being offered a maintenance program by the dealership where conventional, non-0w20, because 0w20 has to be a blend or synthetic, changed out...

OK, I admit it. I'm an oil snob.

I'm a wallet snob. Leave tha Wolf's Head in there and don't waste perfectly good oil and your money.
