Suggest an oil for 2003 Pathfinder (DOHC 3.5L)

Hi All:


I just bought a used pathfinder 2003, with the wonderful 3.5L DOHC engine.

I changed out the dino oil and put in Penzoil Platnium 5w30.

I live in Northern Ontario which gets ---- cold in winter.

I am a HUGE Amsoil fan, but money is tight, so if PP will do the trick in these engines, I might run that for the time being.

I believe you have already suggested it.

Many here in ths states wish we had Petro Canada oils here.

Looking for some negative comments on it. How come you are not using Petro Canada?

I have a friend that just bought a 05 nissan murano. According to him that engine (3.5 v-6) only holds 4.2 quarts with the filter. With that amount of oil in the sump I would be tempted to use something like Mobil 1 0w-40 or maybe GC. Good luck

Amsoil 0W-30 is the perfect choice in northen canada

and great on the VQ engines too

the VQ35 engine holds 6 qts of oil with filter btw...my Acura TL holds less than 5qts thou

The VQ35 does not hold 6 quarts! It takes 5 in my G35. I don't know if the oil pan is different for the Pathfinder but I doubt it!
