The 2019 Impreza is supposed to use 0W20 oil. How do you like the car so far? In the rest of the world the oil change interval on that same engine is 12 months or 7,767 miles.

0w-20 is the recommended oil by Subaru. I feel this is strictly for CAFE standards to meet some mpg figure and keep government lackeys happy...my opinion rightly or wrongly.
I have good sources that tell me it is not unheard of for Subaru dealers to interchange 0w-20 with 5w-30 in these cars depending on whats on hand, what cheap bulk they just bought etc...and may or may not ever tell the owner. Where I live 0w and 5w are interchangeable and not an issue at all. Heck, I could run 10w and get away with it. 20 grade vs 30 grade is the only question...as is ILSAC5 vs HDEO and additives. Really just trying out the HDEO. Plus interested in the Shell GTL base. I will run UOA's as I am interested in the science as well as my experience with the horseless carriage.
I enjoy the 2019 Impreza hatchback. This is my 5th Subaru so I feel they are good, solid cars for the money. Each one was kept for 12+ years with minimum 200k+ on the odo. '85, 89', '96, '01 and now the '19. Never really had an oil burner till way late in the game but did have the head gasket issues on the '01.
I am not against running 10k OCI's on a Subaru at all. Probably wait till 24k or so to make that determination. 10k for me would be ~10 months OCI's.
