Does the larger item absorb more of the microwaves to prevent the smaller one from over cooking? Example for breakfast today in my small 700 watt oven: 2 cooked sausage links I would normally heat for 40 seconds at 70% and 1/4 lb of cooked hashbrowns I'd heat for 1 min 30 seconds at 70%. I heated them together for 1 min 45 seconds at 70% and they turned out perfect. Why didn't the sausages overcook as you might think if heating them so long?

The sausages were getting bombarded by less energy per second since the large item was also soaking it up. Lower intensity/longer time = higher intensity/shorter time.

I have a Breville Quick Touch Microwave and it is amazing! Things my Panasonic could do, but I could not because it was complicated, with this unit it's a breeze. It measure moisture as well when cooking or heating and I get results that I never dreamt before.
Do a google search. BTW I have no shares nor am I affiliated with the company.

Mine is a 27 year old GE that I custom mounted under cabinet. Still going strong.
