My bulbs are also genuine or at least I believe so. Got them through Innovited, they have a ballast and everything. Spent about $60 on the kit iirc.
Sorry, but no... Osram and Philips only make automotive HID bulbs in "D" sizes, D1S, D2S, D2R, D3S, D4S, D5S... all others are aftermarket or fake. They may make claims like "Philips glass!" Or something like that, but they're not the same.
If your headlights used 9005 and 9006 bulbs, I'd do the 9011 and 9012 swaps. I took my Diode Dynamics SL1 LED's out and went back to 9011 halogens. HID's in reflectors like that ARE blinding, even if you don't get flashed. Deontologist helped me see the light (I couldn't resist
) on this subject.
HID‘s need to go into a proper HID projector OR reflector that was designed around an hid bulb (some Prius's... Prii?) used a set up like that utilizing a D2R bulb, the R stands for reflector and has masking on the bulb itself to eliminate glare. Most modern cars use a D1S, D3S, and I know GM was using D5S. The S stands for "Shielded" aka projector style headlights.
