It covers the entire bottom of the car. I'm wondering what the rust angle is here living in the snow belt. It seems a great giant collection point for salt sand and moisture between its top and the bottom of the base

So what's the skinny on this stuff it's the first I've ever seen it

Not sure why this is a beating topic ?

Sound deadening is the purpose. A lot of manufacturers are using it now.

Yeap, sound deadening since it isn't just plastic + aerodynamics

What a place to hang that stuff. They used to put it on the inside of them decades ago. How is that held on there anyways? If anyone in rust country ever dropped a gas tank they got a preview of what this stuff is going to do over time. Many pounds of sand , water and a rusty everything in the area.. anything that holds moisture is great rust promoter. I'd love to be proven wrong here but I can't see a single good thing that could happen with stuff.

I have a Fusion and the entire car except for a narrow strip for the exhaust in the rear is completely covered. First oil change I was like [censored]? I removed the piece required for the oil change and its been off ever since. The car is so low its a pita without a lift.
