ON, Canada eh?
EPA's role in fair gasoline emission testing draws fire.

In Washington, researchers for a report published by the Urban Air Initiative contend that "technical data that shows the nation has been exposed to decades of flawed test fuels and flawed driving tests, which in turn means flawed emissions results and mileage claims". The complete Beyond a Reasonable Doubt series from UAI is available here.

Further, EPA emails obtained under the Freedom of Information Act reveal that, according to a report from Boyden Gray & Associates, the Agency appears to have directly solicited financial contributions and technical input, "especially on the fuel matrix," from an oil industry controlled research organization.

I'm suspicious when a group with an obvious agenda and clearly in it for the money casts aspersions on the motivations of other motivated groups...(note their attack on "misguided environmentalists)

It appears contradictory, but many key environmental groups focused more on land use issues and misguided net energy reports than clean fuels and clean air. As a result, they were convinced to oppose biofuels as a clean renewable fuel and octane source.

while pointing at benzene rings, and completely ignoring aldehydes (nasal cancer, kidney failure etc...etc.)

for e.g. reneweconomy in Oz, publishing the following chart in the "tesla battery outsmarts lumbering coal plants"...note the scale on the left (the plant that tripped), and right (the battery response), and in the (now 404ed because of the heat they got) "article".

They have called for a ban of Triclosan here in Canada because of how much of it is making it into our water ways. It hasn't completely yet but it's being moved toward.

Meh, this is a BS story designed to confuse/mislead people in order to promote increased biofuel usage. The Urban Air Institute requested the information via their attorneys Boyden, Gray and Associates. The problem is that that UAI has most likely cherry picked the emails in order to make their case.

It's SOP to seek stakeholder input whenever new regulations are proposed. Regulations are always a compromise of sorts.

It's worth noting that these events transpired in and around 2008.
