Leave it in for 1.5 years?

Thanks for the replies - I'm leaving it in until the weather gets warm again. I think the problem lies with the manufacturers when they say something like: 5,000 miles or 6 months whichever comes first. During the warranty period, I was dumping synthetic oil every 6 months which had very little mileage on it

I wouldn't buy a new vehicle that requires 5K/6month oil changes. Same with one that requires mid-premium grade fuels.
Do your homework first and not have to complain later.

Worse case your head gasket is starting to leak.
