Some people have small capacity oil sumps and some huge. What is the largest amount of oil a vehicle of yours has taken?

My current Grand Marquis at 6 qts is the largest for me.

8l for my 40hp tractor. My old 280cc atv must be up there in the ratio of displacement to oil capacity, taking 4l, but its oil cooled and got a common sump with the gear box and final drive, so it needs some oil to keep everything happy.

Mercedes 300CD with the OM617 - 7 qts. My '85 GMC holds about that much, too, but that's with a double-size filter which isn't stock.

I like Chevy and Valvoline.

1995 7.3L PS F350. IIRC ~15qts.

I think the least was an audi 100LS pushrod mercedes tractor engine with a 3 or 3.5 litre sump.

My 1999 Bluebird Wanderlodge with Detroit Diesel 12.7 liter 60 series; 40 quarts. Also takes 8 quarts for the generator.
37 quarts in the transmission, 20 quarts hydraulic oil, and 25 gallons coolant (plus a couple for the generator).

Fluid change time is not kind to the wallet.

Very similar, 59 needle nose Pete with a small cam - same 12 gallons. Interesting truck as it was cab kit on 53 Autocar aluminum frame rails with a LOT of aluminum parts. Was tanking, so tankers want gross and we were bridge formula state back then. MAX at 73,600.

23,400 tare - truck & trailer (tanks). Now days it would be in the ultra-light category laugh

Formerly in marine engineering. In an earlier life I owned my own petroleum tank truck, and hauled for the majors and independent's.
