Has anyone done it yet? Thinking about sending Blackstone 3 samples of 0W20, AFE EP and the new-ish AP that now costs $40 at Walmart.

Is it worth it to get the TBN number too on virgin samples?

I don't really care for VOA's - - they don't really tell the whole story, just one tiny piece.

Sure, they tell one tiny piece, but without that tiny piece, UOAs lose a pile of their utility. There's a reason to get a VOA of a batch before using that oil in a trended analysis.

Agreed. If someone is doing UOAs, then it's good to have a VOA as a baseline to understand whether certain elements found on a UOA came from the original oil or from the engine.

... and pay most attention to the NAPA oil analysis, as we think Blackstone had a lot of systematic gross underreporting of elements. Trust the NAPA one first.

That, too, is another valid reason for a VOA. If the lab is under-reporting something, at least you have a baseline when you have the VOA for subsequent UOAs.

There seems to be a disconnect between between the UOA 5-20 AP with Mike718s on page 1 of the UOA section and the 0-20 VOA reported in your link.
