Went to the dealer today for the second 5 year inspection on my wife's 2007 Pacific with the 4.0. They couldn't have been less thrilled to look it over, even though it's their mother company that requires the check up. Anyway, it passed but the tech came out and said I should do motor mounts. I was a little surprised because the engine is acting like it always has. I wasn't shocked, though, because this is a regular problem on these Pacificas.

Anyone done this job on the 4.0? The dealer quote was *only* $1100. The parts appear to be around $80 to $110, Watched a few videos this evening to get a sense of what kind of job this is. Seeing plenty of 3.5s and 3.8s, but nothing on the 4.0. Are the mounts placed in the same spots as on those smaller engines?

One other interesting note on the inspection. The car had 82k after 5 years of service. It has 113k today. The last 5 years have been pretty good to it.

Get your factory service manual to check the process. Worthwhile investment.

Almost 5 hours to replace all of the mounts, the front and right side mounts are 3.5 hours alone.

Unless you are experiencing major clunking, I wouldn't change them. Mileage seems low for mounts to need replacement.

Did they say which mounts are bad?

Check this video out for info on the mounts.
