I assume the pricing is significantly better than OE filters.
Looks to be well made from the outside - cut one open if you can.

Looks just like a mann-hummel KOREA FILTER. gOT ONE SITTING ON MY DESK DID NOT GIVE ENOUGH op TO MY NISSAN. Threw on a fram ( as I was out of options) and all is well except for a resonance at 2000 rpm for ??? reason. I will put on a Honda pcx -004 high flow filtech next OC where I hope to run some Redline 10w30.

This is the OES filter. Hyundai and Kia both are having oil pressure spiking issues. The Hyundai solution is to have Mann build what is nearly a racing filter in construction. Premium Guard filters can barely hold 200psi without blowing out the O ring so they issued a service bulliten saying they will supply the OES filter until they can redesign their filter for this application. We upped our burst strength on this filter PH9688 to 360psi from 240 due to this issue. Using "low cost region" filters on these engines may cost you an engine if you are not careful.

Good Lord - - that can't be good for their oil pump life.

Try that in a SBC or SBF and you will shear the roll-pin on the distributor gear!

So it would appear especially from the baseplate pic, this specific Premium Guard application is the current Mann made H/K OEM filter without the "genuine H/K" labeling. Thus is rebadged Mann H/K for Premium Guard sale. The key imo then would be if the PG can be obtained at retail for less than the H/K labeled OEM.

A Prime Guard oil filter tsb likely related to the decision to rebadge the Mann OEM is linked. The tsb has been posted here in the past.

Jay, I have a 2017 Kia Niro hybrid with 1.6L Atkinson cycle engine. Is the spiking an issue with this engine?

Was the XG9688 burst strength also upped or was this not an issue in the XG? If the former, is there a date code on the filter I should look for, indicating has the increased burst strength? Thanks.

The OE Hyundai/KIA filters have evidently been upgraded. The new filters are marked Mann+Hummel with the last 5 digits 35504.

This looks to be a Hyundai/Kia 26300 35504 filter.

The following is the OEM filter:



Mann is also selling this filter as an after market filter under part number W 811/80. They have dropped the Purolator filter for this application.
