Hi all. I'm considering mounting a B&W external spin-on filter, and wondering about
connecting it to the radiator fittings with flared tubing instead of the usual hose
and clamps.

Would the hard lines be that much more reliable than the rubber hose, and worth
the added expense and labor? I already have a flaring tool and tubing bender.

The pressure is pretty low. Transmission cooler hose and clamps will be fine. I would get transmission hose so the ATF does not damage the hose.

I would go with a Magnefine. It will filter just fine. And has a magnet in the flow of the ATF.

Use ATF not fuel line hose. Easy peasy.

I use 2 clamps and gasket cinch to glue the hose into the metal. Once that dries it won't ever come off

Ok, I've used RTV for that - but are you using an actual glue ?

Agree. Also if you can find clamps for fuel injection would be an improvement over the standard issue worm clamp.

Thanks for the replies and tips. Seems the consensus is to use hose and clamps so the
hard lines are probably overkill for a filter installation.

I do have ATF hose, and one other question. What about using the constant tension/spring
type clamps rather than the worm gear, or for that matter the FI clamps?

In practical experience, I have had better luck with the worm style clamps than the FI style clamps.
