AFAIK the OEM for Volvo filters are Mahle and Mann. Unless they have changed supplier it should still be those companies.

To your second question, they are excellent .

Mahle and Mann.

I use the Mahle (I have found it to be slightly cheaper than Mann.) in the GFs car. Even though it is short tripped, the filter comes out straight and wave free.

Make sure you cut it open when you take it off

Yes, the Mahle and Mann-made OEM filters are great! You can get them for about $6 each on ebay. In addition, they cost much less than Fram/Wix/Purolator that start out at double that price. The only reasonably-priced aftermarket filter is the Napa proselect which is far inferior to Mann/Mahle and no cheaper.
