I bought 1.5 ton aluminum jack from Harbor Freight last summer for $69. It is compact, light weight and low profile. It fits under the S2000 with 5" ground clearance. It can lift up to 14 3/4". For jack stand I have 3 ton I bought from Sears few years ago.
If jack fails when you try to lift the car you may damage the jack and/or the car. If jack stand fails while you are under the car then ...
