I am curious, what would be the best of the store brand car batteries? AAP, O'Reilly, NAPA, and AutoZone batteries are priced exactly the same for my car, at about $100-105. There are also the Walmart and Sears batteries.

There are really only a few companies that make batteries, so many of them are the same or very similar.

I recently bought an Advance Auto batter for the Sonata. Using discount codes, I got it for only $65.

The Advance Auto batteries where I live are made by Johnson Controls.

Look at the vent caps. The Sears Diehard with vent caps, AutoZone, and AAP are all the same Johnson Controls "power frame" battery with different store label.

So the "best" is of those 3 is AdvanceAutoParts, $40 off with code "CCABIN"

I'm getting everything from a midwest-only chain of farm supply stores called "Farm and Fleet".

Amazingly, all of their batteries look just like Dekas...

Thats cuz Farm and Fleet are 'Deka/East Penn' batteries. So are Carquest, & Im almost certain Costco/Kirkland batteries are as well. Not 100% sure on the Costco.

Yep, the Fleet Farm batteries are East Penn/ Deka units. O'reilly house brand batteries here are also East Penn / Deka units. Happy with the service I've gotten from either.

The last Napa batteries I bought were Exides, but I believe I heard they've gone back to Johnson Controls. Good thing since both were junk.

Take a look at the latest Consumer Reports article done on auto batteries, based on your battery size required. Their testing shows that not all brands perform the same over all the different group sizes. In many cases, the Costco battery came in cheaper and near the top.

On the other hand, the AAP discount codes on my last battery buy and the relative convenience of the store location led me to AAP. My perception was I didn't lose that much capability for the convenience of the AAP location.

Same here. I have one in a rarely driven car and it has held up great even sitting for a couple months at a time.

Neverstart is quite right! I had two of these for the kids ATVs and they lasted about 45 days each. I switched to Duralast and they have been good ever since--no more Everstart batteries for me.

Does cotsco have a core charge? AAP charges $12

+1 Costco. next question.

my two cents.

Diehard is awesome due to the fact that as a sears product, you get the fact that if you need to do anything relating to its warranty, or if you have a problem, you will never be too far from a sears in the USA.

Personaly, i would go with a motorcraft battery. we had one last 1997-2005 in a 1997 escort before it went mid winter in the driveway. I forget who makes motorcraft, or who made it back then...but they knew how to make a battery.

I was under the impression NAPA batteries are sourced by Deka/East Penn now, used to always be Exide.Auto Value is Exide,Parts Plus is Exide.
