Zaino

I have used literally hundreds of different detailing products over the years, and Zaino certainly ranks with the best of them. Zaino produces a very nice shine and the durability is absolutely incredible if applied correctly. I live in one of the worst climates in the world for car wax (snow, ice, road salt, extreme cold) and Zaino seems to plough through the bad stuff as well as anything.

You can get as good of a shine with other products, but in my opinion nothing is toughter than Zaino. If you are lazy and don't like to detail often, Zaino is your product.

Having said this, preparation is the key to any successful detailing job. I like to start with dish soap and water to clean the nasties off the car, then I clay the vehicle completely. Then I use my Porter Cable 7424 with a fine polishing compound (usually Meguiar's Show Car Glaze #7 if the paint is in good shape). After that, I do the Zaino deal, which is actually a sealant (still don't know why the call it a polish, because it contains no abrasives).

Back to the Meguiar's stuff for a minute: Really, Meguiar's makes some really good products (their professional line) at great prices. I have used products that cost way more than Meguiar's that don't work nearly as well. I played the "boutique" products game for years, and really they aren't THAT much better.

Give Zaino a shot if you like durability. I think you'll be happy.

I've been an avid user and proponent of Zaino for several years now. Prior to that I was a fairly dedicated wax & glaze guy, but after I learned about Zaino, and was involved in a large car care products testing publication, I switched to Zaino. I still use and test a great number of products but I consider Zaino the gold standard in their product categories.

In the interests of full disclosure, Zaino sponsors my detailing discussion forum (when its up and running....)

I too have used Zaino and really like it. However, the Duragloss products (found at CarQuest etc) seem very similar (almost a duplicate product line) and some of the new stuff coming out "ICE" etc seem to be hopping on the Zaino wagon. Zaino's downside is the price, very expensive IMO but very easy to use and provides great results

Been using Zaino for over 10 years.
Zaino keep improving it's poducts.
I presently use the car wash, leather conditioner,Z-AIO,Z2,Z6 and the spray on,wipe and walk away ZCS.
Initial cost is pretty high but the stuff products for years.
Cheap over the long run.
Great stuff.

Like Colt said, the initial cost is high, but I have been using the same stuff for a while. I haven't had to place an order in a while because the stuff goes on so thin and if you put multiple layers of the different stuff it lasts a long time. I put one coat of ZAIO, Z5, Z2 and ZCS and keep the car garage kept and the stuff lasts about a year. Before I was using over the counter stuff and I would have to re apply about every 2 months.

I agree about the Zaino.I think it is the best, but I like products that are readily available that are almost as good.

Here's what I do to all my cars every 3 months.
1:Wash with Dawn in hot water.
2:Clay with Mothers.
3:Wash again in dawn to remove any clay residue.
4:Meguires NXT Tech wax.
5:Final seal with Meguires Ultimate Quik Detailer.

I top off every weekly wash with the detailer and use Black Magic Titanium Matte tire finish. It gives a rich,low-gloss look.

It's been a while since I've used Zaino (maybe like 4-5 years ago), but I've generally been very happy about the results. The only slight downside is that it seems to attract dust quite a bit. I remember a post a while back on AudiWorld detailing forum... some guys did a comparo and found that products like Menzerna or Klasse were much better in that respect while still being very good sealants/polishes.

I've been really lazy as of late and don't do my own claying/polishing/sealing anymore. I did buy some 1Z polish and glanz wax products about 2 years ago... haven't opened the bottles yet.

I suspect the guy who uses NXY every three months will likely have a better lookingc car than the car waxed with Collinite or Zaino with nothing done to them every 6 months. If you are applying spray detailers, waxes, you cannot claim durability.

This assumes both use good wash techniques so the paint is not swirled or marred.

Zaino pros - I've coming back to Zaino after a 3 year hiatus.

I don't have my prized sports car anymore which used to get the Zaino TLC 2x a year.
I have settled into a daily driver Mazda that sits outside during the day in Mid-Atlantic summers & winters.

It is my 1 car that I have but still want to protect & give it a shine even if it's not a $50K sports car.

That said I also don't have a lot of time to polish & clay.

Is ZAIO enough to clean & still protect & shine?
Does it need to be augmented by anything else?

My main enemy is the bird bombs -so protection & durability is paramount with shine 2nd.

ZAIO is more than adequate for your needs. I was hangin' out with some pro detailer friends a couple weeks ago and they all use ZAIO on their work vehicles. Easy to use, looks good, lasts a long time, perfect for the busy person who still wants a great shine.

You can top it with Z2, Z5, or the new Clear Seal product. If you wash regularly, get some Z8 spray sealant and use it after every wash. It'll maintain the looks and durability of the Zaino and it takes only a few minutes to wipe on.

I used to think the products were expensive, but after using them for quite a while, found the cost is insignificant. I figure it's about $1 an hour for material cost, and it saves a lot of hours over the long run since it lasts so long.

How do you rate the Z-CS clear seal? Seems like a great idea just wipe it on and let it dry, no buffing, just walk away? It would make doing my full size van a lot easier.
